Break discs for fair cooperation

With the start of the examination period around the end of the summer semester, the demand for workstations in the library increases significantly. In order to avoid seat reservations and to support a fair allocation of workstations, we offer you break discs in our workstation areas, which function like car parking discs: When you leave your workstation, you set the start of your break. After 30 minutes, or 60 minutes at lunchtime, the space may be occupied by other library users.

Citavi - licence extended until 2019

Since 2008, Paderborn University Library has offered all students and staff at Paderborn University a free campus licence for the reference management programme Citavi. The system supports literature research from specialist databases and library catalogues as well as the effective indexing and integration of research results in academic papers. In addition, Citavi enables effective task planning: from the recording of upcoming tasks with details of deadlines, importance and work status to the creation of task lists.

The University Library has now extended the Citavi licence for a further three years until 30.04.2019. If you are already a user of the Citavi campus licence, the new licence key will be sent automatically by email to your university email address.

As a new user, you have the option of downloading the software free of charge via http://www.citavi.com/de/download.html and requesting the required licence key via our Citavi website: http://www.citavi.com/upb. As soon as you have received your personal licence key by email, you can start Citavi and enter the licence key. Follow the instructions in the email when entering the licence data.

January 2016

New catalogue of Paderborn University Library

Paderborn University Library launched its new catalogue on 26.01.2016. Conceptually, this new search portal consists of two basic components: the catalogue interface and the search engine.

While the catalogue interface was developed in-house by the University Library, the commercial product Primo from Ex Libris was previously used as the search engine component. This will now be replaced by an in-house developed solution based on the open source software Elasticsearch.

With this innovation, the University Library intends to make its catalogue, the central reference tool for the electronic, printed and audiovisual information media it provides, even more efficient and better tailored to the needs of its users than before.

You can find our catalogue as usual at: https://katalog.ub.uni-paderborn.de.

"INFOTAG for school pupils 2016" at Paderborn University

"For fair cooperation". Campaign in January and February 2016

With the start of the examination period around the end of the winter semester, the demand for workstations in the library increases considerably, as expected. In order to avoid 'seat reservations' and thus support a fair occupancy of the workstations, we ask you to use our break discs. These work like car parking discs: When you leave your workstation, you set the start of your break. After 30 minutes, or 60 minutes at lunchtime, the space may be occupied by other library users. Do not leave any valuables unattended!

To ensure that all our users have a clean and quiet place to study and work, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that eating and drinking (with the exception of water in transparent bottles) is not permitted in the University Library.

We ask for your understanding that regular patrols are carried out by library staff to ensure compliance with the rules.

All members of staff at the University Library will be happy to help and advise you in the subject libraries, at the Information Centre and in the local lending desk. Talk to us!
