New service: Writing advice at the library information centre

From 2 August 2017, the Writing Competence Centre at the University Library's Information Centre will be offering student writing advice every Wednesday from 13:00 to 14:00.

Students writing their term papers or theses in the library often have questions not only about searching for literature in catalogues and databases, but also about academic writing. In order to provide students with quick and targeted support, the Competence Centre now offers 'Student Writing Advice' once a week at the library as a place of work and study. The service is aimed at students from all faculties and semesters. Further information on writing advice can be found on the Competence Centre's homepage: upb.de/schreiben/studentische-schreibberatung.

Break discs for fair cooperation

With the start of the examination period around the end of the summer semester, the demand for workstations in the library increases significantly. In order to avoid seat reservations and to support a fair allocation of workstations, we offer you break discs in our workstation areas, which function like car parking discs: When you leave your workstation, you set the start of your break. After 30 minutes, or 60 minutes at lunchtime, the space may be occupied by other library users.

Student survey from 18.04. to 15.05.2017

Dear students,

Your opinion is important to us. We, your University Library (UB), would like to find out more about your requirements for our offers and services. We would like to know how we can best support you in your studies, be it through a balanced range of media, attractive learning and working conditions or the right counselling services.

Where is the offer right? Where do we need to improve? How can we optimise our services?

To this end, we are conducting a student survey from 18 April to 15 May 2017:

t1p.de/survey-ub-pb

You will need around 10 - 15 minutes to complete the questionnaire.

As a small thank you, we are giving away 5 x 2 tickets for the AStA Summer Festival on 1 June 2017 among the participants until 7 May 2017 thanks to the support of the AStA.

The survey is being carried out simultaneously at many universities in NRW, sponsored by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research NRW. This questionnaire was specifically adapted to the conditions at Paderborn University Library.

All data will of course be processed in compliance with data protection regulations.

We look forward to your participation and your feedback.
